T minus 35 days
Still prepping, I guess as much as can be done. I feel like I’m ready to go, but at the same time, not. I just want this thing to start so I can really focus on the trip. Unlike the last couple of weekends.
Let’s see. Last weekend was replacing the seals and such in the kitchen sink. Then fixing the rocking toilet (which entailed a spelunking expedition under the house). Oh and some cars needed maintenance as well as prepping motorcycles for a family gathering at the local offroad park. Which left me with half a day on Friday to go play in the snow and work on my potential Sierra gear.
Large pack, new boots, crampons, snowshoes and ice axe practice. Besides the shitty undercoating I put on the ice axe head for insualtion and comfort, all went well. Though I think the snow was too cold and firm for my coming reality this spring.
And then there’s the little things, like finishing the first aid kit, the repair kit, getting a few bottles of spices set up, solar panel or not…It just never ends. You could sit and plan all you want and never be “ready”. Like in my motorcycle adventure world, I’ll be happy once I’m on the road; when all I have to focus on is what’s on my person at the time. It’ll all work out.
Stay tuned….
