No one can make you change your plans except you. But you have to acknowledge the sense of at least postponing your journey until this plays out. I attempted a through hike in 2018, and I know firsthand just how much PCT hikers rely on the communities they encounter along the way. These are small towns for the most part, with limited resources. Because of the pandemic and the need to isolate people from each other, you will be putting yourself and the people who live there at risk, and i daresay you will not find the usually open arms and welcome attitudes of the past. Do the right thing, not the “Ron” thing.
I cancelled a vacation- to visit my only daughter in California. I work in Public Health- I might be asymptomatic- I could bring Covid19 to her. I would be on a plane, like Ron- I could bring her Covid19 from LAX or from the Delta flight. She is a 20something- she could give it to me to bring home to Seattle. Something from my vacation for my husband.
This is a plague, stay home, stay well , we are all too valuable to get sick.
